                       What's going on blogspot family so the yukon has long been a key player in the full-size luxury suv market by offering a ton of luxurious features a handsome design and a lot of practicality in a quite large package those things have not changed for 2022 but what has changed are some pretty substantial tech upgrades inside of the cabin despite this only being a year old so is this 2022 gmc yukon denali the ultimate luxury suv let's go ahead and find out.
                             Now like i mentioned at the beginning a big and very important part of this yukon is having this really nice and  handsome aesthetic to the design and of course that does continue since this was just redesigned last year  so up here in the front with the denali model you're going to get this bold satin chrome grille  as you can see there's a lot of detailing inside of here that really makes it look of course more  expensive than the other trim levels which they themselves do have different versions of the grille including the at4  which has the more rugged look but the vast majority of people actually choose the denali trim level when you're talking about the yukon  now as we come over here to the headlights you are going to notice standard full led headlights across the  range as you can see they have a gorgeous design you have the three crystals for your low and your high beams and then you've got the large bracket shape daytime running light and turn signal combination as we go down to the lower area you will  also find led fog lamps located down here which is something that neither the tahoe or the escalade offer  and let's go ahead and talk wheels you do have a lot of different options they start on the low end at just 18 inches  however most of the trim levels and including the denali do have the availability of getting large 22 inch  alloy wheels as you can see we do have this 22 inch alloy with the silver  accents and then kind of gray around the outside edges looks really nice and premium  i do also want to mention while i'm down here you can get an available air suspension with the yukon we don't have  it on this specific model so i can't show it off to you but it is available just like it is with the other two  general motors suvs as we come above we have gmc branding right here we have large denali branding  right along the door trim and of course being the top-end model these mirrors are going to be fully loaded so you have  heating you have blind spot monitoring you have power folding and you have auto dimming  well guys i don't have to tell you this yukon is a big big suv i'm sure you  probably already knew that before you clicked on this video but as far as the regular wheelbase version is concerned.
                       We're looking at 210 inches in length of course you can't extend that out by even  more if you go for that extended wheelbase xl version now for the denali as far as the side design you do have  the chrome door handles as well as some chrome accenting to give it a nice premium touch  now walking our way around to the rear design for the yukon as you can tell we  do have the signature design that you've grown used to over the last year so they're not going  to change anything of course for 2022 so as far as that we have our wiper that's hidden up underneath of the spoiler up  here we have some big gmc branding here with some silver accents and then if we look at our tail  lights you will notice that we have our signature bracket led tail lights they do kind of match with what you see in  the front which gives it a nice cohesive look and every single element in this taillight unit is going to be led  dropping down to the lower area we have some chrome accenting but the part you're probably going to notice the most is the quad exhaust outlets the denali  model throws that in and it looks so awesome i really love the quad exhaust touch now as far as the tow rating for  the denali with four-wheel drive we're looking at 7 500 pounds as a maximum now it's time to talk about your safety  information as well as the warranty information for this 22 yukon so for the safety information we have two safety  systems standard equipment which will be ford emergency braking and your auto high beam headlamps if you go for the  slt model and above that will throw in the lane keeping assist and then if you go all the way up to the denali and  option it on in a package that will throw in your adaptive cruise control system it's also worth noting that you cannot get super cruise unlike you can  in the cadillac escalade now for your warranty you have a three year thirty six thousand mile basic warranty five  year sixty thousand mile powertrain warranty and gmc is also going to cover your first maintenance visit  but guys i have to say i really like the red exterior design of this yukon denali i know we have a really gorgeous  interior inside and then we'll take it out in a spin so don't go anywhere  so as we walk up to the denali yukon of course you do have a standard smart entry system with the brand's normal key  fob we do also have remote start as you would expect and getting inside the vehicle there's not a sensor behind the  handle so you'll press the silver button to unlock the door when you do unlock the door this is  where your power deploying running boards will come out if you have that option  of course take a look at that beautiful cabin and we'll go ahead and climb inside  getting in is nice and easy with those large running boards.
                       Look at those lovely animations really  smooth really beautiful and we're going to talk about this stuff in just a second but  of course we have to start off the interior by talking about interior material and color choices now the vast  majority of people when they choose the yukon choose the denali trim level so that's really going to be the focus of  today's blog and as such we do have the most premium seating material this is your beautiful wide grain leather  as you can see really soft and supple we have the double stitching through there color contrast  piping perforation like i said it's just a really soft and nice leather and of course you have the signature denali  embroidered into the back of the seat in terms of your color choices you're going to have four different choices you can  choose a gray you have black with black or black with brown and then we also have the option  we have today which is a beige with teak as far as our dashboard is concerned and this is really a beautiful combination  it's nice and light and airy now the seats themselves are going to be 12-way power adjusting with 4-way lumbar  support and as we turn over here to the door trim we're going to see lots of premium materials again we have the wide grain  leather through here the really cool stitching detail all the rest of this is covered in the leather as well with that  teak color option and of course there's going to be really generous use of this open pour walnut wood all throughout the  cabin of course we do also have two person memory seating located right here as far as our windows they're one touch  auto down for all four and auto up for your driver and your passenger now as a luxury suv the rest of the materials are also going to be really beautiful uh just like the door trim so.
           We have a upper dash covered completely in the wide grain leather again with the stitching details as we come down we  have the beautiful open pour wood through here more of the leather that runs through the center portion as well as over here next to our button we have  a genuine textured aluminum that guns that runs down through this part more leather through here more of the open  for walnut as you can see just an absolutely a beautiful cabin and definitely  right up there with the escalade to be honest i didn't mention this already but denali does have the special dash layout  with the integrated display if you get one of the lower trim levels it is going to have a different look to  this interior but anyways let's go ahead and start her up  and right off the bat we won't waste any  time let's talk about one of the most important and highly sought after updates for 2022  and that's the fact we now have a full digital 12 inch gauge cluster this is  standard on every version of the yukon for 2022. like i said a lot of people were  complaining about that last year that this did not have the digital gauge cluster and that has been rectified this  year as you can see really nice high resolution display you do have a lot of different design options as well i'll  kind of click through and show you some of what that looks like that's our progressive theme we also  have a digital theme and a theme where it just keeps things clean with not  many odd options on the display at once i happen to like the kind of classic  view um additionally you are going to have a gigantic head up display um standard on  the denali available on your lower trim levels like when we had the denali for seven days last year this is one of the  best head up displays it's absolutely enormous now as we pull back to the steering wheel it is finished in the same color  as the rest of the interior and the dashboard as you can see more of that genuine aluminum down through there as  far as the wheel itself it is going to be power tilt and telescoping and then steering wheel heating is available on  most of the trim levels standard of course on the denali off to the side we have a lot of  different buttons over here i'm not going to talk about each and every one of them but this does trigger your 360  degree camera system this is where you would adjust your head up display we also have our trailer brake controller  located right there four wheel drive and head or headlight controls excuse me.
                      Let's go ahead and talk about interior storage because of course this is a very large luxury suv  we do have a little bin right there for your phone to set up top and of course looking inside of here we  have a enormous amount of space you can remove this piece right here and once you do that  this just gives you a ton of space it goes all the way down past my elbow when i stick my arm in here and we do have a  rubber lining at the bottom as well as two usb ports and then these coupons this looks silly  in a vehicle like this because it just so wallows them up no problem whatsoever  now as we move up here let me flip this out of the way that is your cup borders and we do have another  storage area right there with a couple more usbs and a 12-volt outlet addition we have a little bit of storage  along the sides as well and i do want to point out for 2022 this is a little detail i'm noticing but  this lid is different as you notice it just flips up and down like this it doesn't lock in and go by itself last year some  of the models we were in all three of them as a matter of fact had some fitment issues with lining this up they've gone to a new piece now which feels nice and solid and lines it up perfectly so good improvement and good attention to detail as well  and of course you can also continue to get the power sliding center console as well although this specific example does  not have it all right let's turn our attention up here to our shifter of course um with  this all new generation of yukon they did move to a push button style shifter so you just pull this toggle for drive  you can shift manually here if you want to and of course you pull that for reverse  we do have the 360 camera obviously standard on the denali trim level it is also available on some of the lower trim  levels as well and this continues to be a really excellent 360 camera you got the traditional view you've got the  overhead view you can change through many different angles including side angles.
                     
                      So you don't scratch up those  beautiful 22-inch alloy rims on the outside of course press the p for park and you  do have an electronic parking brake as well as we come back down to this area we do  have standard three zone automatic climate control set up across every yukon very simple and easy to use since  we have physical buttons all through here and you can also turn on and off your rear climate controls from the  front coming over to the seat controls you do have three stage heated seats with  separate butt and back controls we also have three stage seat ventilation standard on the denali trim  level and one of the things i'm noticing is the fact that these are fully functional a lot of general motors vehicles these days are having chip  problems that are eliminating heated and ventilated seats but at least on this example we do have both of those fully  activated and let's go above once one more rung  here and check out the audio system so uh you're gonna have a couple different sound systems depending on which model  you choose between most of the trim levels will come with a nine speaker bose but the denali comes  with the 14 speaker bose center point premium sound system and let's go ahead  and give that a sample right now  yeah so overall sound quality of this system is  top notch especially when that bass hits you you will know that this is definitely a premium sound system  okay so now we are here at our display just like last year when you choose.
                                                                       
            The D enali you've got the 10.2 inch display integrated into the dashboard that's  different from the other trim levels like i already mentioned which floated out separately it is still 10.2 inches  though when you pick those trim levels but there's some big news here i'm really surprised to see that we actually  have a new infotainment system on board even though this is just the second model year of this new generation you  usually don't see very many changes so this is a new google based infotainment system for the  gmc brand this is the first time i'm ever seeing this system and basically what this is doing is  running android automotive so it's got things like google maps and the google  assistant baked right into the system at the basic level so you don't even  have to pair to android auto or apple carplay to have access to those things now in terms of the overall design they  have skinned it to look pretty similar to the infotainment 3 system that this came with last year in terms of having  the tiles like i saying there are a lot of differences with the things that are built into it like your play store  again the default navigation system for gmc has been completely replaced by google maps as you can see really nice  and responsive and of course this has powerful tools like traffic and things of that nature you can continue to have  wireless android auto and wireless apple carplay both of those are onboard of course when you have this stuff built  in it doesn't give you as much of a reason to go into these systems but they are still available right through there  now as we move on from that you will continue to find the auto dimming mirror up here of course when you flip that  switch it is the digital rear view mirror so that's going to cut out all the obstructions and make it look like you don't have  about a mile from here to the back of the vehicle like you actually do up at the top we do have led lighting  these are going to be your homelink universal remotes and of course as you would expect  we do have the panoramic sunroof this is going to be included  on the slt on and above with an optional package and of course the front portion  does open right up.
                       Well guys here i am in the Yukon Denali you feel pretty bougie sitting back here  because everyone gets chauffeured around in big gm suvs like this and the denali  is gonna have that next level of luxury thrown in i mean this is a very much a  luxury suv but let's talk about the space first we're looking at 42 inches of rear  legroom 38.9 inches of rear headroom as you can see this seat is adjusted to drew's five  foot eight driving position i'm five foot nine for reference look at this we have probably eight to ten inches of  rear leg room and my feet can easily slide up underneath the seat so certainly a lot of room it is worth  noting that these captains chairs can slide forward and back actually a really good distance so if you have someone  really tall in the third row and they need the extra room you can scoot your seat up definitely adds a lot more usability that of course wasn't  available on previous versions of the yukon you can also recline it and while i'm talking about the captain's chairs  these captains chairs are going to be standard equipment if you go for the denali model of course i think the vast  majority of yukons can get them optionally if they're not standard and it is of course going to be a really nice design we do have a nice thick  armrest as well now let's turn our attention towards the features here in the up top we do have a cup holder we  have a little storage cubby you could put a little bit of stuff right in between if we drop down below that we have our own climate controls of course  these are going to be standard on the yukon model it is just going to be three zones even though it is a luxury product  you might have four zones in some of the german rivals dropping down below that we do have standard heated rear seats  that's going to be on the at4 and denali model if you go below that we have usb type-c ports then further  below that we have a household straw outlet so if you can't keep your stuff charged up then you probably don't need  that much stuff then working our way up we do have our vents coming out here at the ceiling we also have some led  lighting i do want to point out though that no yukon will ever have a rear window sunshade which i would like to  see them add in future generations now the yukon has one of the best third rows in the entire auto industry so let's go  ahead and hop back there now of course you do know at this point in the blog this is just the standard wheelbase version so keep that in mind now in  order to get back here you just locate this level lever right here that will fold the seat  down and then you can pull it once more and then that will fold it up and out of the way so you can easily get back here  all right and getting back into the third row like i mentioned this is such  a nice place to spend time as far as the legroom figures we're looking at 34.9 inches of legroom  38.2 inches of headroom which is really good figures for anything in this  segment as you can see this seat is actually slid all the way back like i said i'm five foot nine i still have a little bit of leg room to spare and my  feet can go up underneath the seat so really really comfortable another thing i want to point out the thigh support is  really exceptional on this model now as far as the features we have a cup holder here on the left side we also have usb  ports it's a usbc or usb type c variety and then up in the ceiling we do also  have our rear vents as well as some led lighting all right guys coming up to the tailgate area i'm sure you guys will be happy to  know that the yukon does offer the two different ways of opening the tailgate  you can pop the rear glass separately if you double click that button right there as you can see you can just open that up  this is of course something that's becoming more and more rare in the auto industry  now as far as the tailgate itself it is going to be hands-free power if you go for at least the sle model  as you can see it does open right up the sensor is going to be here to the right of the  center here now as far as the space itself is concerned in the yukon  like i mentioned this is a standard wheelbase version yet we're still going to have a lot a lot of space we're  looking at 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row seats if we expand that out to  behind the second row seats you're looking at 72.6 cubic feet and as a maximum you're looking at 122.9 cubic  feet so that makes it the largest among all of its competitive set you know this of course is going to be the same as  like a chevy tahoe and escalade however if you compare it to expedition it is going to be even larger than that so  there's just a lot of space they have done a great job with this new model now as far as the finishings are back here  and how you can fold the seats we'll talk about the carpeting first we have a nice carpeting down here then if we  lift that up you will notice just a little bit of space up underneath of here this is good for something like an umbrella and then off to our right side.
                 Here's where you're going to notice all your controls we do have a standard power folding third row for this fully  loaded model so you just push these buttons right here that will go ahead and fold down the third row as you can  see it does fold down quickly and then you can double tap these buttons and that will also fold down those seats  right there so as you can see with all of that out of the way you have an absolute crap ton  of space it's actually completely flat with the floor as well so that's certainly a nice touch  now this is a luxury suv after all so as you would expect you do have a power passenger seat it is going to be quite a  few ways of adjustment and you do even keep the lumbar support now off to my left knee we do have a  little bit of storage right here in the side you can maybe fit one of those little small bottles of hand sanitizer  and then in front of me as far as the glove box is concerned we do have a really good size glove box in here as  you can see it is nicely dampened and our coupons fit in there perfectly fine so don't think even though you go for  the denali that you're too good for coupons and then up top we do have a really large sun visor we have some  gently fading and led lighting a large mirror and we can also detach it as well as extend it out  alrighty guys now it's time for the test drive portion of the video now unfortunately this particular 2022 yukon  denali is sold as really with most of them coming to dealership lots these are in such high demand guys um it's really  hard to find one that's not sold uh so what we're gonna do is go to the 2021 test drive of course nothing has changed  between 2021 and now in terms of the powertrain so without further ado guys let's go ahead and hop into that 2021  test drive and show you what this yukon is like behind the wheel  and there is 60 miles an hour oh gosh a steep hill  yeah this that's fast wow i mean.
                        You know what engine this is do i even really need to tell you guys you could probably hear it and just know um this  is the 6.2 liter v8 that we absolutely love of course it's very powerful as you  just saw up a hill it did that acceleration as 420 horsepower and 460  pound-feet of torque and this is going to be the standard engine on the denali so certainly a benefit of going for the  denali trim over the other trims of the yukon is that you get the 6.2 liter engine standard as opposed to the 5.3  right and that's the same engine as in the escalade as well now in addition to both those engine  options you do also have a new diesel for this all new yukon so they're really  giving you the entire gamut of options for this new truck as far as the engines and  powertrains now before we get too far into the blog i want to go ahead and talk about  what i think is one of the most important and more interesting parts about this the fact that we have the air  suspension as we already mentioned so in our past reviews of tahoe yukon and  escalade none of those have had the air suspension because it was late availability but now we have it here on  this yukon and i have to say you can really tell a big difference when you're behind the wheel driving it  of course it already rides very nicely because you have standard magnetic ride control on the denali but  having the additional air suspension i think really just smooths it out even more i mean  this rides frankly fantastically i mean i really don't have any complaints whatsoever  it's better to me than what you get in like the navigator or the expedition  with this have adaptive dampers but having the extra air suspension i think really is a big advantage over the  competition  and then you got that right there nice acceleration  now beyond the tremendously smooth ride um of course a big part of having a  luxury suv such as this is how quiet it is so yeah let's go ahead and take our official  measurements we're gonna be going 55 miles per hour  okay so we got 54 and a half decibels that's a really nice measurement um  i mean i can just tell setting in here just how quiet it is all the time you just you shut that door  and yeah you just don't really hear the outside world much at all even when it's windy outside like it is  today now we can go ahead and sample the auto start stop system here at this red light  once it turns green and wow very very impressive for such a  big engine it's incredibly smooth i feel no vibrations when the engine restarted i  could hear it a little bit but that's just because we don't have any audio going right yeah it's really a it's an auto start stop system that i found over  the last week that it's really easy to forget it's even operating and that's that's what you want.
                    Now the other element that you're probably noticing on that acceleration there is going to be the 10-speed  automatic transmission this is really probably sound like a broken record if you've watched a lot of  rgm truck reviews but this 10-speed automatic is about as good as it gets to have as many gears as it does it really  just blends right into the background you never even feel it shifting  and it just gives you the power exactly when you want it no complaints whatsoever  we have one other thing that we need to talk about and that's going to be our fuel economy  so with this model you don't expect it to get great fuel economy and it doesn't so  what you're looking at is 14 city 19 highway 16 combined with four-wheel drive  as far as what we've got this week i will preface this by saying we haven't done a great deal of driving because  yeah we weathered an ice storm and now we have an impending winter storm coming tomorrow  so not a ton of driving but checking into what we've been getting it's been about that epa estimate of 17  miles per gallon yeah so after living with this yukon denali  for a week i have to say i truly appreciate this vehicle because this has  so much capability it has done absolutely everything that we've thrown it at it and we've been an  ice storm and it has done a really good job throughout the course this week not to mention it does so in just absolute  extreme luxury this goes head-to-head against bmw mercedes and it can take them on so  if you have 85 grand you would certainly be doing yourself a disservice if you don't come out and check out this yukon  denali and now that you guys have seen how it drives let's go ahead and update our slam dunk and air ball for 2022  so it's really important because actually our air ball from last year was  the fact that digital gauges were not included with the 2021 model now they  listen to us and they include the full digital gauge cluster thank you i really appreciate that so.
                    Uh that is really going to be today's slam dunk is that they listened and they added more new features for 2022 despite  this only being one year old i'm really happy about that and the air ball for today it is very  difficult to find something in a luxury suv as nice as this one but one thing that we did think is a little bit weird  is that this does not have super cruise for the 2022 model year which the 2022 sierra denali will actually have super  cruise because we saw that chicago auto show and it will have super cruise so it's going to be a little bit weird to  have a yukon that doesn't have it sierra does have it but i do imagine that will be added for the 2023 model year so  no worries too much about that right one would anticipate especially since the escalade has super cruise right now yeah  but let's talk about the pricing so you're probably curious as to how much this 2022 model is going to cost you now  of course it is going to be pretty expensive as you would expect now this particular model is the regular standard  wheelbase denali and we do have most of the options although not all of them we don't have that fully loaded reserve  package we have the premium package on the denali which is a 7 500 option  pretty pricey we also have the optional paint color and then when we add in the 1695 destination charge this  particular tester as equipped is coming in at eighty three thousand five hundred and fifty five dollars.
